One death gives reason for a second. The second lends glory to the third. Some say he was mortal. But some say he rose from hell. Our salvation, our hope, no one knew. With the 'death' of Gotham's white knight, Harvey Dent, the people of the city turn their anger and frustration on the dark knight. The Batman.
The joker has been captured and sentenced to life in Arkham Asylum - surpassing the death
penalty with a plea of insanity. Gotham is currently on the mends after the clown's rein of destruction. Things are beginning to get back to normal. The batman has been laying low, and Gotham's crime underworld is once again... stirring... smelling their freedom again. And their chance to re-emerge.

QUESTION: I'm new here and don't have an application up yet. Why did my account get deleted?
ANSWER; For security reasons and to keep track of who is active our staff goes through every few days and cleans out accounts older than 5 days that are not in use. If for some reason your account is one of those deleted please feel free to just re-create it when you're ready to apply.
QUESTION: I only have one character and I was asked to hold off on another character application for a while, why?
ANSWER; TS is a very time consuming and advanced RPG. If you're still pretty new to the site, and just getting active in character, we may ask you to wait before making another. This is because we do not want a new player to take on too much when they are just getting started and finding their rhythm within our community. Usually we will suggest an amount of time or a point at which you should apply again. If not, feel free to bring the subject up for discussion once you've been active for a while.
ANSWER; DC can be pretty violent and there's plenty of scantily clad beauties and shower scenes in the comics... but this is a roleplaying board- not an AOL chatroom. As such we would like to keep members from getting overly graphic in their descriptions of adult scenes. But as the rules state - be tasteful and subtle. Just ask yourself whether the story needs the graphic descriptions or whether it will still work without them. Our players should be old enough and mature enough to handle smut and adult situations... but if they don't want to read it, then they shouldn't do into your thread.
Make sure to put a warning or [M] in the title of your thread with any mature content (be it violence, sex, language, etc).
ANSWER; Well, possibly. We are selective in our choice of affiliates. We prefer to affiliate based on quality, not quantity. We look for a friendly staff & members, good writing & story and a visually attractive site design. So if you think your board is quality (which I'm sure you do) send a PM to the TS admin giving the link to your board and a friendly intro (including contact information). We'll check your site out and see what we think of it before getting back to you.
ANSWER; It might be the discretion of the admins to deny certain applications - if we do not feel that you are a good fit for one particular canon, on this type of board. It's nothing personal, it's just in the best interest of the board. The admin might make a suggestion as to another potential canon you might be better suited for - or they might suggest you make an original character, and get some play/experience on the board before taking up a canon. Like we mentioned, this is an ADVANCED roleplay - so the bios will be read over carefully, and we expect nothing but the best (no spelling errors, no grammar errors, proper sentence structure, detail, length, etc.)
QUESTION: Why can't I be the kid/grandkid of [insert canon character here]?
ANSWER; Well - this rpg is set a few months after the Joker is taken into custody, and after Harvey Dent is 'dead'... but Two -Face has recovered from his fall, and is contained within Arkham along with the Joker. Ergo, not enough time has passed for these characters to have secret children, or cousins, or grandkids, or any of that stuff. We are merely beginning to fill in our own events, that are inspired by Christopher Nolan's films: Batman Begins, and The Dark Knight. We are attempting to keep these characters in this more 'realistic' world (i.e. no magic, no time travel, etc).
QUESTION: Does [insert other DC character here] exist in this universe?
ANSWER; Due to the site being based on Nolan's films - we have not yet decided on whether or not to include other characters from the DC Universe on this board. Honestly, it will depend on the popularity and flow of the board and in the roleplay. Right now, we're going to say no - characters accepted and play here will be specific to the 'Batman' family/genre. No Superman, or other Justice League characters yet. If you want to toss an idea off the admin, feel free to contact them. But we want to keep this world simple and realistic for now.
QUESTION: I want a canon, but I don't like who you have selected for some of the canons... can I change the celebrity choice?
ANSWER; The admins tried to select celebrity avatars that fit the basic idea and look for the canon character/their place in Gotham at the moment. Now, characters already established in Nolan's films CANNOT be changed (that is, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, etc). BUT if you reeeeeeeeeeeeally don't like the particular celebrity avatar that the admins have selected for the canons on our list - you may PM an admin, and suggest your alternative for the playby you want.
QUESTION: The canon I'm interested in, IS NOT on your list!?!?... Doe that mean I can't play them!?
ANSWER; Not at all. We only selected a few of the 'popular' canons for our list, because they were the ones we had our first ideas for, in terms of this Gotham setting. However, if you want to adapt other canons (perhaps Lyle Bolton, Simon Dark, Bane, Clayface, etc) - you can CONTACT an ADMIN... to discuss how you would like to fit them into this world. There are so many great characters, but realistically, not all of them fit into this world/the context that Nolan has created,
for example;
An adaption of Clayface - a character who, perhaps, was a d-listed actor struggling to keep his career afloat; maybe had an accident or disease that began to deform his face, and so he lashed out and became a criminal who needed to wear masks, change his appearance, apply make up techniques, etc. --- there are a lot of different ways you could re-interpret him into a villain
...whereas, any kind of adaption or interpretation of Killer Crock, for example, would kind of be a stretch - since we aren't going to go into any kind of situation that goes beyond logical medical rationale (the use of transformation into animals, enchantments, lizard like appearances, etc).
Does that make sense? Try to think of these characters in Nolan's world. Does it fit? If you hesitate in saying 'yes' - please contact an admin to discuss the idea, or try to think of another all together.
Remember, we do ALLOW originals here - so if no canons speak to you, feel free to apply for your own character.
ANSWER; Again, not so much an earth or verse - but Nolan's more 'realistic' interpretation of Gotham City, which will house these circumstantial and emerging criminals. The year is 2009, we're keeping to the present day, so that should be easy enough.
ANSWER; More than likely, any account deletion will be because of a) failure to post within the allotted time between registration and signing on.. or b) because of your age. This board is rated R/NC-17/Mature... which means, we do not allow anyone under the age of 17 - and even then, said-applicant must demonstrate that they are mature enough to roleplay on this site. It's nothing personal, but frankly - we haven't found many 13-15 year old roleplayers who have enough experience to keep up with this board's posting demands and standards.
QUESTION: Can my original character be the long lost brother of the Joker?... Or Selina Kyle's younger sister?
ANSWER; Sorry, but no. This is an advanced rpg, and we aren't really going to go for 'distant sister of' or 'long lost brother of' kind of mary-sue/gary-stu characters. If that's your first thought when coming to this board, this might not be the place for you
