• By joining THESE SCARS you are agreeing to follow all of these rules.
  
  
• Each person is allowed 2-3 characters on this site, provided you continue to play EACH one as active as the next, and don't neglect plots - since other characters will rely on you as well. If the admins notice you neglecting a character, we will ask you to give them up, until you are able to play them equally. If you would like more, permission from an administrator must be given. Also, one of those characters must be of the opposite sex; for example you can't have three girls, or three boys. try to mix them up.
  
  
• We will have an activity check every few months or so, to make sure that your character is active. If you miss the period to check in, your character will be deleted.
  
  
• Each person is only allowed one canon (potentially). Your other character(s) must be original. If you prove to be active and a viable asset to the board, you may speak to an admin about possibly attaining a second canon character.
  
  
• The admins reserve the right to DENY any canon-characters that come across as too powerful or too godlike. These are just real people, thrust into extraordinary circumstances in a dark, crime ridden city. They can still die, there is no magic here, and no immortality. We also reserve the right to deny players CANONS... if the player does not meet the roleplaying standards of the board (i.e. their application is riddled with spelling and grammar errors, poor execution, etc).
  
  
• Be original – no celebrity names (yes, that does include character names from television shows). Canons, naturally, will retain their original names of course, but any originals should be just that. Original.
  

, the registration

• No, you may not use names like devil666 or jess_williams. You must register with a first and last name of your character, be they canon or original.

  Once you have established your character, or they have become their alter ego, you may alter your name to appear as
  
  i.e selena kyle [catwoman]
  
  
  
• No signatures... period! So don't put one up. If you do, it'll be removed.
  
  
• Avatars permitted - only 1 6 0 (x) 2 2 5 ... no larger. Please follow this rule; if you break it, your av will be removed. We don't want anything larger, since it will then distort the board.
  
  
• This board is rated Mature, which means if you can't deal with sex, drugs, violence, or whatever else will be posted up here, I recommend you find another site. You have been warned.
  
  
• OOC fighting will not be tolerated. You do it, and we have the rights to ban you from this site. You may, of course, fight In Character while posting, but fighting with a character's handler will cause trouble and there will be consequences.
  
  
• This board is rated R/NC-17/Mature... which means, we do not allow anyone under the age of 17 - and even then, said-applicant must demonstrate that they are mature enough to roleplay on this site. It's nothing personal, but frankly - we haven't found many 13-15 year old roleplayers who have enough experience to keep up with this board's posting demands and standards.
  

, the application

• No Gary-Stu’s or Mary-Sue's. This is an advanced board, we expect the characters to be well developed. This means there have to be flaws and points of weakness. Things they’re good at it, things they detest. Nobody’s perfect, not even me... which – I know – is hard to believe.
  
  
• Before your application is accepted do not post anywhere else. It will be deleted.
  
  
• No plagiarism will be tolerated. You will be lucky, if caught plagiarizing, if we give you a second chance to attempt another bio. Normally it's one strike for plagiarism and you're out - simply because we don't want to put OUR members and our original characters at the risk of being stolen or copied. It's a strong precaution and we take it seriously. As far as canons go, try to edit the history to make it your own - we base this Gotham realistically (as director Christopher Nolan depicted it in his films).
  
  
• Your character must be represented by a person. Not a drawing, but an actual person. It can be an unknown model or a celebrity face. After you have chosen one remember to claim it in the Face Claim. No deviantArt avatars, or anime.
  
  
• Whether you get accepted or not depends wholly on your application. Don't just rush through it – actually work on it because it can help you feel out who your character is.
  

, canon characters

• Most canon characters (for example, Selena Kyle, Edward Nigma, Barbara Gordon, etc) - will begin as their normal selves. That is, you cannot start a new canon that's already established as their alter ego.
  
  Part of the fun of this board, is going to be playing out the emersion of these villains and heroes in Gotham. This board takes place just after the Joker's arrest, 'Harvey Dent's death', and the Batman's banishment from the public eye. We stick close to Nolan's vision that is portrayed in the Batman films... ergo, none of the other canons are really established.
  
  That being said - all canons will be app'd as citizens; what they are doing now, their status, their life up to the point of their transformation. Then, you can begin playing out their descent into madness, or their rise to heroism. Sound good? Good. This excludes anyone established in the films of course, being Joker, Batman, Scarecrow, Alfred, Lucius Fox, Commissioner Gordon, etc.
  
  If you are confused, please see the descriptions beneath the canon characters in the CANON list, or look at the bio of SELENA KYLE.
  

, the rating

• As stated before this is a Mature site. However, to be courteous to those who want to join the site but avoid it's mature contents, remember to mark the thread with a warning. Just a simple "Mature Content" will do.
  
  
• Sex // Pregnancy – as mentioned above if there is sex involved in the thread, make sure to write "Mature Content" in the subtext. Pregnancy is permitted, but BOTH parties must agree to it, and proper action has to be taken to depict the pregnancy and birth realistically; i.e. a heroine who gets preggers isn't going to be running around crime fighting still.
  
  
• Cursing is allowed, but please don't make it a first language for your character. No one goes around cursing all the time.
  

, the rest

• God-modding is a definite no. If you don't know what that means, look it up. Though I have to wonder how long you've been role-playing if you've never heard the term before.
  
  
• This is an Advanced role-play site, which means that the posts must be lengthy and well written. A minimum of three (5-10 sentences) paragraphs per post... if not much much more. As for grammar, try and keep it at a fairly high level. We understand that people make typos but a post riddled with errors is not what we're looking for.
  
  
• Admins have the final say. No matter what.
  
  
• You may advertise for other sites, but only in the advertisement board, not on your signature or in any of your posts.
